From Bart Hubbuch:
The pitching help that the strugglinPedro Martinez - won't be arriving anytime soon.g Mets could use most - three-time Cy Young winnerGM Omar Minaya told The Post the Mets now expect a strained left hamstring to sideline Martinez until at least the middle of May - and possibly into June.
Well jeez people, are you really surprised by this?
I actually prefer this. Keep him on the shelf until he's really needed. So far, so good with the fill ins, so if they can keep this up and we can stay in the race by the time Pedro is ready to go, he'll be fresh and healthy. Sounds like a plan to me.
we kept him on the shelf until he was needed last year. we need to move on as an organization and stop hanging our hopes on injured players coming back. trade him, get a prospect, dump the salary. i love pedro, but cmon. i want to win a championship, and someone young guy getting experience is the best way to do that. who pitched amazingly in the 06 playoffs? maine and perez. i think its pelfrey/figueroa time. note that i have no idea how old figueroa is, im just making a point.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
ReplyDeletePedro has only picked up 26 wins for the Mets, but his influence goes way beyond his on field wins.
Beltran...Delgado...Moises...all results of Pedro coming along, IMO.
the signing was excellent; it just shouldve been for 2 or 3 years instead of 4 or whatever it is. im not sure we really had a choice though. and i dont think alou was ever really a good signing. if we were paying him for half a year, then yes. i do like pagan though.
