The CF walls are being lowered

According to Adam Rubin, the Mets will lowed the centerfield walls in Citi Field.

Currently, the wall stands 16 feet tall in front of the Home Run Apple.100_5211

Rubin writes that, “the height of Citi Field's center-field wall will be sliced in half, making the ballpark more homer-friendly.”

Does that only apply to the area in front of the apple?  Because cutting the whole centerfield wall in half would make it about six feet tall in most areas.

What I assume is going to happen (don’t quote me on this), is that they will push the area in front of the apple back, so that there will still be a wall in front of the apple, but that the “home run area” will all be at the same level (the lower line).

Here’s a tweet from David Lennon: Mets are, in fact, lowering the cutout in front of the Apple at Citi Field, but may be more aesthetic move than home-run related.

I believe it will end up looking something like this…

Happy Holidays

As you probably realize, I'm taking a few days vacation away from the blog. Between the holidays, the loss of my grandfather and decompressing after a hectic first half of senior year, I need a few days to myself to relax and reflect.

I wish you all a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. I'll pop in if anything important happens, but consider this blog on vacation for the next week or so. I'll be back in the new year with the 2010 Met of the Year award voting. Talk to you in a few days.

I wonder what Johan Santana is thinking

Sad Johan…Or something with a lot more expletives and exclamation points.

All while sitting on his pile of money and weeping to himself.

Baseball Digest: The Curious Case of Nicholas Reginald Evans

As you may or may not know, I've recently been tabbed as the Content Editor for the New York Mets page on the brand new Baseball Digest Web site. (BaseballDigest.com) From now on, I will be pulling double duty between this site and that one, attempting to get fresh content every day. If you like what you read here, please consider visiting the Mets page.
I wrote a brief article this morning about Nick Evans and where he does, or doesn't fit, into the Mets plans.

Please check it out.

Improving the Citi Field Inaugural Season patch

I'm sure by now you've all seen the absolutely miserable design (if you can even call it that) on the Mets inaugural patch for Citi Field in 2009.

Well, combining my lack of anything truly productive to do and my semi-decent Photoshop skills, I decided to take a stab at designing a better patch. I came up with three. Two of them are takes on the current design and the third goes in a different, somewhat better direction.

First, for reference, here is the patch that will be worn in 2009:
Patch 1 -- Original:
Now here are my takes on it.
Patch 2 -- "Arches":
Patch 3 -- "Backdrop":
Patch 4 -- "Oval":Which one tickles your fancy?

K-Rod's first Mets baseball card

Actually, just another Photoshop by yours truly. I don't like his hat logo, but it's the best I can do.
