I don’t know why, but these interest me. Here are the Mets uniforms for the upcoming season from the Mets Wikipedia page…
Now if they’d only bring back the Mercury Mets uniforms. Heck, I think they’d be a hot item. I’d buy one.

That was fast.
Jason Bay, No. 44, jerseys are now for sale on Mets.com.
Here’s an image, albeit snapped with a cellphone camera, of the Mets new jersey hanging next to a Yankees jersey in the wild.
They really do look dirty, compared to the white Yankees uniforms. It’s like they wanted to go for the “cream” look, but stopped short of going all the way.
With the orange outline, it just looks dirty, not retro.

And here’s another image of…I don’t know what. A upside down Yankees logo on a car from Pennsylvania. Any ideas? Both images snapped by Geoffrey Sorensen. Thanks!
The Mets will wear a new “natural”-color pinstripe uniform at home next season.
The white uniforms will remain their home color, with the black uniforms as their other alternate.
“The Mets created the retro uniform following research and positive responses to the jerseys the 1969 World Champion Mets wore during their 40th anniversary celebration in August,” according to the press release.
Think the giant “NY” jerseys (right), but with pinstripes (and no giant “NY”). So essentially, just think of the color.
The jerseys go on sale November 27 on Mets.com.
We’ve got some conflicting reports on this, but it seems the Mets may be changing their uniforms for next season.
The first note I saw was a pair of tweets from Bart Hubbuch. In one, Hubbuch noted that the Mets were considering dropping the pinstripe uniforms from the rotation next season.
A few minutes later, he also mentioned that the Mets may be changing their plain, white uniforms to more cream colored ones, a la the throwbacks they wore earlier this season, likely without the huge NY on the front.
In his game notes, Adam Rubin then mentioned a different alternative. He wrote:
The Mets plan to go retro with their pinstriped home uniforms next season. Those uniforms will change to off-white, as they were in the 1960s, from their current bright white. That will also serve to differentiate the pinstriped uniforms from the solid home uniforms, which will remain the brighter white.
Meaning the plain, white uniforms would stay, but be accompanied by cream-colored pinstripe jerseys. Think 1969 uniforms.
All uniforms will still have the drop shadow under “Mets.”
As usual, it looks like we’ll just have to wait and see what happens with the Mets and their garb. If it was up to me (and most Mets fans), they would drop the black jersey from the rotation entirely.
But that’s just me.
Be the first to own a Josh Thole jersey. No guarantee he sticks with that number for the rest of his major league career.
It’s scary being an early adopter, but someone has to set the trend.
In light of the events of this season, the Mets have debuted a new uniform that they will wear the rest of the season, for every game.
Here is a photo of Johan Santana modeling the new uniform…The new uniforms can be purchased for $15 per foot in the Mets team store or on MLB.com.
From the Mets…
FLUSHING, N.Y., August 12, 2009 - The New York Mets today announced they will honor their National League heritage by wearing throwback uniforms inspired by the turn of the century New York Giants uniforms when they play the San Francisco Giants August 14-16 at Citi Field.
The cream-colored jerseys feature an oversized blue "NY" on the front, blue and orange piping on the sleeves and a Mr. Met patch on the right sleeve.
Mets Amazin' Memorabilia will auction off the jerseys to benefit the Mets Foundation on www.mets.com/gameused.
I dig it.
There’s black jersey ugly. There’s Mercury Mets ugly. And then there’s this. Some Mets players have “designed” jerseys and shirts with their own personal flair. I’ve never seen such a train wreck.
Here’s an excerpt from the MLB article:
Murphy built off his Irish heritage by infusing the Mets' classic road look with both the color green and a logo of a clover over his signature.
Parnell went with "earth tones" -- brown with camouflage lettering -- to give his merchandise an outdoors look that is big in his native North Carolina.
Putz strove for a patriotic feel, going with a camouflage jersey with red, white and blue lettering. Putz also produced an elaborate T-shirt design with his name in gothic letters above two eagles and a home plate bearing the Mets' interlocking "NY" logo.
Santos paid homage to his native country with a Mets logo that integrated the Puerto Rican flag in the background. His T-shirt consisted of a big picture of Santos in catching gear.
You really have to see all of them. They’re just that bad.
Thankfully it’s just for fashion and none of the Mets will be running onto the field in this garbage.

Brian Costa just tweeted that the red hats that all MLB teams wore on Memorial Day are back in action tonight, and for the rest of the weekend.
Great. This isn’t going to be confusing since the Mets are playing the Phillies…whose No. 1 color is red!!!
Sometimes, even if the message they’re trying to send it nice, MLB should think a little before making these uniform changes.
This seems to be one of the hottest topics on any Mets blog: the black uniforms. Now you can join a group of fellow fans who want to see the blue and orange donned more often and fight cancer at the same time.
What is this? Blue, Orange, and Pink: an effort by Mets fans, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, to get the New York Mets to return to their traditional uniform colors and fight breast cancer at the same time.
How does it work? If you're looking to join the cause, click the "Join Our Team" button right above this. Fill out your information (you are not required to make a donation when you join) including your e-mail address. From that point on, every time the Mets wear blue and orange caps at home, with either pinstripes or white uniforms, or blue and orange caps with gray uniforms away, you will be asked to donate $1 to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a subsidiary of the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society minimum for donations is $5, so you will receive an e-mail every fifth game that Mets wear blue and orange, asking you to come to the page and make a donation. All of the money we raise, as well as all of the money you personally donate, will be tracked on this website.

On Memorial Day (Monday), the New York Mets and all teams across Major League Baseball will wear the Stars & Stripes caps.
Via Sox & Dawgs:
MLB started this tradition last year when the teams wore the caps on July 4th and again on September 11th. Just like last year, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the caps and merchandise will be going to “Welcome Back Veterans”.
You can check out the caps of all 30 teams by clicking here.
Here is the Mets hat this time around…
And the Mets jersey (not sure if they will be sporting these on the field)…
Click here to view the Mets team store for the Stars & Stripes apparel.
I love these uniforms, even if the red doesn’t really go with the Mets colors. At least this year they adjusted the uniforms to match the hats. A great uniform for a great cause.
Can these replace the Mets black uniforms full time?
And here is Robinson Cancel, who the AP cited as an infielder. Now that would be something...(Just checked B-R's site -- Cancel has played 23 games at first base in the minor leagues, 40 in the outfield, and eight at third base.)
It seems the Mets will wear this patch on all hats this season.
