According to The Daily News, Moises Alou will play in a rehab game in Port St. Lucie, possibly as soon as next weekend.
Alou had been hitting off a tee at his home in the Dominican Republic last we heard, so to move up to playing in a game in a week is pretty big news. And when he does eventually come back, the Mets will be faced with a wonderful Catch-22. Alou or Angel Pagan? Now that is a tough choice.
well, you have to go with Alou in the beginning. If he struggles, which I do not see, then put in Pagan. You have to go with the experienced alou. His swing does not get slower with age because it is unique.
ReplyDeleteWe all saw what Alou did last year coming off the DL with the hitting streak. Besides, Alou will be back to the DL and it wont be the only time Pagan gets to own LF at Shea.
I think you stick with Pagan. You let Alou come off the bench to PH or play a few innings, but you need to work him back to shape.
ReplyDeleteIf Pagan is hitting, there is no need to take him out of the lineup.
Moises Alou is like a car with 200,000 miles on it. As soon as you fix one thing, something else goes wrong. As much as I'd like to add Alou's punch at the plate to the lineup, I'd hate to take Pagan out. I guess you just ride that car until its next breakdown, then bring in the reliable car. With his increased value, Omar will probably trade Pagan for more help in the bullpen.
ReplyDeleteWell put, Trash Man, well put.
