According to Shi Davidi, the Toronto Blue Jays have signed Lance Broadway to a minor-league deal.
Pair that with Ramon Castro also signing with the Jays, and the pair that was traded for each other could be in the same battery next season.

From Newsday’s David Lennon…
The Mets dressed up the team’s rookies in various costumes after yesterday’s 4-0 win in Florida. Thanks to the power of the Internet, we can see those photos.
Here is my favorite, Bobby Parnell as some sort of German…um…woman? Here are links to some photos, all taken by Flickr user saubrey02.
Nick Evans as Minnie Mouse and Josh Thole as a Playboy bunny.
Lance Broadway as a nurse and Tobi Stoner as a French Maid.
Hilarious.
Jerry Manuel confirmed to reporters that Pat Misch will be pulled from the rotation for the rest of the season, likely to be replaced by Tobi Stoner or Lance Broadway, reports Adam Rubin.
I’m torn. On one hand, why not let Misch keep pitching for the rest of the year? What’s two or three more starts and possible losses?
On the other hand, I do want to see what the Mets have in Stoner and Broadway. Doesn’t look like either can be an impact player for next year, but they are under the team’s control and could help a few years down the road. Let’s get a preview now.
And here’s the lineup they will run out at Citi Field tonight…
Here are two things that troubled me with the Mets box score from last night’s 11-3 loss to the Braves.
First, of course, is the pitching lines, specifically the first two…Pat Misch and Lance Broadway didn’t have good nights, did they?
Secondly, not so much from the box score, but still a troubling sight…When Daniel Murphy, who we all complain about not having enough power, is leading your team in home runs (with only 11, no less), something is seriously wrong.
It’s almost exciting watching how many ways the Mets will find to lose a game. Today it came via the grand slam.
Bobby Parnell surrendered a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning, ending his day. Parnell allowed eight earned runs on nine hits and two walks. He lasted only 4 2-3 innings, needing 110 pitches.
Is the Parnell experiment over yet? Or will the Mets just let him take his licks in the rotation?
Ken Takahashi pitched 1-3 of an inning, allowing one run to score.
Lance Broadway made his Mets debut, pitching three innings and allowing two earned runs on four hits. He walked one and struck out three.
Yay?
The Mets got a pair of two-run doubles from Jeff Francoeur and Brian Schneider respectively.
Just a game closer to ending 2009.
Update – 4:14 p.m.: Carlos Beltran must be heading to the disabled list, according to Adam Rubin.
That’s because Fernando Martinez is heading back to the Mets, he reports.
Also coming up is Pat Misch to replace Takahashi.
Original Post: According to various tweets, the Mets have optioned Ken Takahashi back to Triple-A Buffalo.
Does this mean that Lance Broadway is coming? Maybe.
The depth chart on Mets.com is probably the last place I’d be looking for roster news, but as I was glancing at it while working on another story a new name caught my eye.
On the bottom of the bullpen depth chart, Lance Broadway’s name is listed. No longer on the list is Jon Switzer.
Broadway, as you may remember, was the player the Mets landed when they traded away Ramon Castro.
Broadway is 1-3 in six starts with the Bisons. He has a 5.97 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP in 31 2-3 innings.
It seems the people over at Hot Foot spotted this too.
Haven’t heard anything about this possible move yet, so who knows what is up here. I wouldn’t be against the move if it did come to fruition.
Ramon Castro was the odd-man out.
Castro was traded to the Chicago White Sox for right-handed reliever Lance Broadway.
Broadway has appeared in 19 games for the White Sox over three seasons, posting a 4.69 ERA. Broadway has pitched in 8 games in 2009 and has an ERA of 5.06.
Broadway, a great name for New York, will be sent to Triple-A Buffalo.
The Mets will activate Brian Schneider for tomorrow’s afternoon game and will retain Omir Santos on the major league roster.
Update – 7:05 a.m.: Via Adam Rubin:
The Mets will pay the White Sox roughly $1.4 million, according to a source, the prorated portion of the difference between what remains on Castro’s $2.5 million deal and Broadway’s $402,500 salary at the major-league level.
Omar Minaya on the trade:
“When Omir Santos plays the way he has, we have to keep him around.”
“We possibly were going with three catchers.”
“Broadway was a No. 1 pick in 2005…We will send Lance to Buffalo, as a starter.”
“Ramon was grateful for the opportunity here.”
I knew I remembered this name from somewhere, but couldn’t put my finger on it. My roommate, Andrew Fletcher of Scott Proctor’s Arm, re-posted photos from his trip to Yankee Stadium last year.
Interesting, to say the least.
