Angels sign Joel Pineiro

According to Ken Davidoff and Jon Heyman, the Los Angeles Angels have signed Joel Pineiro.

Heyman says the deal is worth two years and $16 million.

Now that he is off the table, where do the Mets turn?  Ben Sheets has to be at the top of their wish list now.

Bengie Molina rejects Mets offer?

According to Buster Olney’s tweet, Bengie Molina has rejected the Mets latest offer.

My thoughts in short: Good.  Very good.

Olney also mentions that the Mets are focusing more on Joel Pineiro.

My thoughts in short: Good.  Kind of good.

Price: Mets talking to Pineiro

How much for Dave Duncan?I’d go for this.  We won’t see the same Joel Pineiro that was in St. Louis, but it’d be an upgrade for the Mets rotation.

What about you?  Would you like this rumored deal?

Links: Pineiro, Chapman, Igarashi

-According to Buster Olney, via MLBTR, free agent Joel Pineiro is likely seeking a four-year deal. Pineiro is looking at Randy Wolf’s deal from the Brewers and believe he is worth more than that.

He probably is, but how much will he suffer when he’s not under the watchful eye of Dave Duncan in St. Louis? Teams should be wary, though I like him over Jason Marquis.

-Aroldis Chapman threw a side session for teams today, but the Mets were not in attendance.

-Jon Morosi tweeted that the Mets are showing “some interest in hard-throwing reliever Ryota Igarashi.”

Here’s Igarashi’s player profile from NPB Tracker.
